Today, Tuesday, two summit matches will be held between Al-Ahly and Zamalek at the level of volleyball and handball between women and men in the New Administrative Capital and 6th of October.
Women’s volleyball derby
The Zamalek club’s women’s volleyball team will face its counterpart, Al-Ahly, at 11 pm today, Tuesday, as part of the first rounds of the Premier League final for the 2023/2024 local season at Hassan Mostafa Hall on the 6th of October.
The second round of the final is scheduled to be held the day after tomorrow, Thursday, in the same hall, where the title is decided in the playoff system by the winning team in two matches, and in the event of a tie, a playoff match will be resorted to.
While Smouha will compete for the bronze medal with Sporting at 9 p.m.
Hassan Abed, Executive Director of the Volleyball Federation, revealed that 2,000 fans have been settled in the final of the men’s and women’s league for the local season 2023/2024.
While the men’s final will be held on April 3, 5 and 7 at Dr. Hassan Mustafa Hall in 6th of October City.
The Al-Ahly and Zamalek women’s teams had reserved their place in the final of the women’s volleyball league, as did Al-Ahly and Zamalek on the men’s level.
The first men’s volleyball team of Zamalek club was able to achieve victory over its counterpart Smouha in the aggregate of the two semi-final matches over the course of Friday and Saturday, while Al-Ahly won over Sporting.
Men’s hand derby
Meanwhile, the Zamalek club’s men’s handball team will face its Al-Ahly counterpart at 10 pm today, Tuesday, in the framework of the twelfth round of the second stage of the professional league for the local season 2023/2024, in the covered hall in the New Administrative Capital.
The 12th round also witnesses other meetings, in addition to Al-Ahly and Zamalek, between Sporting and the National Bank, Talaea El-Geish and Heliopolis, and Smouha and Al-Jazira.
Assem Al-Saadani, Chairman of the Professional Handball Competitions Committee, announced that 25 individuals from each club will be allowed to attend the Professional League summit match between Al-Ahly and Zamalek.
Al-Saadani said in a statement to Youm7 that 50 individuals from Al-Ittihad will be allowed to attend, including the match management staff.
Al-Ahly Club’s men’s handball team continued to lead the professional league standings for the current local season 2023/2024 with 38 points, after the end of the 11th round of the competition.
Zamalek ranked second with 32 points, followed by the National Bank third with 23 points, then Sporting fourth with 21 points, and then Al Jazira in fifth with 17 points.
The eleventh round witnessed the victory of Al-Ahly Bank over Zamalek 27/26, and Al-Ahly over Talaea El-Geish 28/24, and the matches witness the application of penalty kicks in the event of a tie in the professional, associated, women’s and junior women’s competitions in 2006.
