Hassan fawzy, head of the Coffee Division at the Chamber of Commerce, said that the division reduced coffee prices by 15% after the decline in the price of the dollar.
He added during a phone call to the ninth program broadcast on Channel One, presented by the journalist Youssef Al-Husseini: As soon as the dollar fell and facilities were provided by the banks, we reduced coffee prices immediately, and there are a small number of outsiders in the profession who adulterate coffee, and whoever is caught is exposed to legal punishment, and our profession is fine and there is nothing wrong with it.
He continued: There is a farm in Ismailia that began growing coffee in Egypt, and the experiment still cannot be judged on its success or not. Growing coffee requires high temperatures, and we import about 70,000 tons annually, and prices range from $4,500 to $7,000 per ton, and our consumption exceeds a year the other.
